This month, February 14th and 15th, and February 21st and 22nd Orchids The International School brings the Universe closer to you through an exclusive ‘Stargazing Night’ from 7pm to 11pm, to celebrate a once-in-a-lifetime celestial event and the rare alignment of Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, and Mercury. The Stargazing event, including a variety of Astro-activities, will be held at Orchids Chinchwad Campus and Wadgaonsheri campus, offering all students, families, and astronomy enthusiasts a unique opportunity to connect with the cosmos.
Ajit Singh, Head of Astronomy at Orchids The International School, shares his anticipation: “Stargazing isn’t just about looking at the night sky—it’s about igniting curiosity, promoting scientific thinking, and connecting with the wonders of the universe. This rare planetary alignment is the perfect opportunity to inspire a lifelong interest in astronomy and science.”
Ms. Prerna Shrivastava, Principal of the Chinchwad Campus, Orchids The International School, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative: “The celestial event, which won’t occur again until 2040, will provide a rare moment of wonder for everyone attending. By combining experiential learning with such a momentous event, we are reinforcing the idea that education extends far beyond textbooks. Activities like these deepen scientific understanding while nurturing a love for exploration and discovery. This event promises to be a celebration of science and exploration, bringing people together to marvel at a rare cosmic ballet.”
Dr. Annapurnalilly Bipinraj, Principal of Wadgaonsheri campus, Orchids The International School, said, “The Stargazing Night will be a blend of education and hands-on learning sessions, designed to spark curiosity and foster a deeper appreciation in children for astronomy. The evening will kick-off with a 12 to 15-minute educational movie, offering an accessible explanation of the science behind the planetary alignment. Attendees will explore the significance of celestial movements and their role in shaping our understanding of the universe, ensuring an enriching experience for participants of all ages.”
As the evening progresses to live stargazing sessions, excitement is expected to reach its peak. Starting at 7 PM and continuing until 11 PM, the sessions will be perfectly timed to maximise visibility. High-powered telescopes will be set up at the campus, enabling participants to view the alignment with remarkable clarity. Experienced guides will be present to help attendees interpret the views, ensuring both seasoned astronomers and curious newcomers enjoy an unforgettable night under the stars.
The alignment of seven planets in a graceful arc serves as a powerful reminder of the intricate beauty of our universe. For many, it will be an evening of discovery, awe, and inspiration. The memory of this night is expected to encourage many to look up at the stars with renewed wonder and curiosity, understanding that the universe always has more to teach us.
